Default Vibration when bearing load whilst stationary

Hi,

I drive a 96 Audi A4 1.8 20V. I have a problem that I am trying to fix for awhile. The vibrations occur when I am in 'D' and when I am stationary (holding the brakes). They can be felt through the steering wheel and the door panels, the type that gives you a light massage (if you know what I mean).

Things I have done to the car to fix this problem, replaced the transmission mounts and the all engine mounts (Corteco). The difference now I noticed is its smoother while cruising, but the moment I stop at a traffic light, I get my free massage.

I have researched this problem and its seems related to the axles. How do I test this out? I have replaced both my drive shafts too, with recon ones (this was done by my workshop so I have no idea what went in). The vibrations were there before I replaced the drive shafts due to torn cv boots on both sides.

I also noticed that the vibrations are much less if the A/C is turned off. Now I hate to say that this is a 4 banger problem, but what gives?

You replaced the engine and tranny mounts. It could be a vaccuum leak, or as simple as a PCV valve, I wouldn't rule those out. could be the Torque converter as well, but doubt it.

Here's a link to read:

Have you scanned it for codes? Did the garage? It may help a bit....

Thanks, my car is a 1.8 NA. What are the symptoms of a vacuum leak? and where is the PCV valve?

How they contribute to the vibrations?

Engine rpm is stable. Also, I do not have a scanner.
