Hey everyone. I'm looking at picking this up. I have the know how as far as rebuilding/replacing the lifters if that's what it is. What would you recommend i offer this guy for this a4.

Audi a4 01 1.8t 5 speed

I don't want to screw him over as he needs a dd asap, but i want to get a good deal as well. Is the $1500 a good deal, or should i try offering him $1200. Don't want to low ball or screw him over. He bought the car at an auction because he needs a dd, and it has this sound. He doesn't have the know how and doesn't want to spend the money to fix it.

 

I'm guessing there is more to the story. did you discuss/look into the salvage title?
