...and your correct I can't afford the rosstech cable and licensed software. theres just a few codes that i want to clear and try and diagnose and diy a few complex problems with my audi.

dont know why some users on this forum took my financial circumstances with insult...but hey...nobody likes poor people right?.

i got one of the FT232BL chip obd2 cables - main issue was to get the com port configured for the usb port. Initially all version of the vag-com software gave no result - on the 409.1 version it finally recognised the cable on port1 and allowed a scan of the computer - no codes yay. If you have a look around theres legitimate copies of the 409.1 out there from other cable sellers who provide a link to the drivers with their ad for the cable on ebay.

The reason i bought the cable is to reset the IN2 inspection interval nag on the dash - thats the next one to attempt
