3mm! Trust me, you won't need any clamps for it.

No yeah you're right. Every single option for vacuum hose available for the B5 1.8T is 3.5mm but you should definitely put 3mm on it because you know better than all the engineers who designed the car

I'm glad we got things straight now! Ha, ha. Just trying to make it easier for the guy. I've run my car with 7/64" (smaller than 3mm) with no problems for a long time.

I am about to the same thing with my car. if i purchase the 3.5 will i need hose clamps/ try and reuse the ones in there?

No. At the most you'll need zip ties. First of all, vac lines are just that: VACUUM lines. They're not going to be under any kind of heavy boost where you would need clamps or undersized line to hold them on. They're not going to randomly fly off and flap around like a fire hose. I've been running 3.5mm silicone hose to my 710n DV for almost a year with no clamps or zip ties whatsoever and it still works just fine. The only place I have zip ties on my vac lines are on the T fitting where my boost gauge is plumbed in. But do whatever you want, I obviously dunno wtf I'm talking about anyway
