V6 vs 1.8T

Thanks for the user! I've seen some S4 trannies for 800-1k bucks. I figured if you're going to blow through that many standard A4 transmissions with that kind of power it seems like the S4 tranny would be a good upgrade. He made it sound like the S4's drivetrain was better anyways.
The 2.0T kit I found on ebay for 1300 so figured it was a nice price considering it had the block and everything. I think I'm going to buy a set of new bare heads for it and get them ported and what not. So pretty much a custom engine build. We'll see how it turns out should be fun at the very least. The block came with JE pistons. He said the Rods can take up to 24psi.
The head has a bent valve from the timing belt jumping a tooth. Should be pretty easy fix.
I'm guessing pretty much anything from the S4 will fit the A4? Does it have a different rear end, transfer case, and what not. Wonder if the drive train parts are able to handle more power then the A4's.

Hope it wasn't a Eurospec 2 liter.
The whole driveline of the S4 is different. The transmission and rear diff have a 4.11 in it while the 1.8t/2.8 have a 3.889. You will need to get the whole driveline including the hubs to run the 01E transmission, you will also need a 2.8 or S4 sub frame or make a driverside transmission bracket.
The 01E has its problems, yes it is stronger but they tend to need rebuilding more often then the O1A. Plus it has a very tall 2nd gear which is not good if you plan on running a huge turbo on a 4 cylinder.

Eurospec 2 liter? It was a 1.8 liter block that was machined for the stroker kit. Has JE forged pistons and a 2.0 crank.
The VR6 is still tempting though.... I just can't find much info on what parts I'd have to modify or fabricate my self. I'm sure it would be pricey in the end....but it would be awesome too.

It's a stroker kit. It's not assembled yet it's all pieces.

Basically that kit but different rods.
"83 VW rabbit rods (the lightest vw rods)with new bushings, magnafluxed, resized, lightened and shotpeened.ARP hardware"
The rods they mentioned. I haven't bought it yet but considering it. Would basically be 1300 with the block and shipping. Also would have all the other hardware for the bottom end (bearings and what not) so basically a complete block with all parts for 1300.

Yeah possibly... lol still looking around.
I may of found a decent deal on a VR6 engine, which I know is probably going to be the cheaper part of the build but regardless. I found a block that says it's got mounting for the MK3 or MK4, I'm just wondering if I buy a 24V head will it fit on any of the blocks? I haven't done much with VW/Audi engines before so trying to figure it all out and decide on what path I want to take. I like the VR6 because it's quite unique and seems like it can put down some decen't power. Of course the drivetrain is still going to be an issue either way. That VR6 sounds awesome too But the Stroker would probably take a lot less time.

Well looking at options for right now, I'm thinking about just doing a turbo upgrade to the 1.8T that's on the car.
Does ~4k in parts sound about right for a GTRS upgrade? Can you do it cheaper? Maybe I should stick to some suspension upgrades and what not and add the turbo or build an engine later. Eventually I will do something for some decent power though. I guess I could throw on a K04 and do it that way. Biggest expense in the GTRS is the turbo it self is 1500 bucks with the oil lines. I went according to what the sticky says for the GTRS.
440cc injectors, VR6 MAF, AFPR, FMIC, EBC, 3" 034 exhaust, upgraded intake, high flow exhaust manifold, and the Elim GTRS turbo kit.

Although, seems like the GT28RS wouldn't be much more. Maybe give a bit better power band. Also would pretty much have everything outside the engine upgraded to what I'd need for the 2.0T build later on with an even bigger turbo.
