Default V-Band?

Hey

I was looking at the GT3071R turbo @

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=GRT

and I saw an option for V-band

the options for A/R
.63
.78 w/ Vband (split housing)
.82
1.06

My question is what does the split housing do?
What are its advantages and how does it compare
to the .63 A/R?

Thanks

Its called twin scroll. You take 2 runnersto one port and 2 ports to the other. The way the car pulses makes the spool a little bit faster. A true twin scroll with .78 housing should spool about the same as a .63 and still hold power longer and make more power. However, no one makes a twin scroll manifold for the 1.8t.

PS, you would also need to run 2 wastegates.

Why does the ATP claim to have V-Band then?
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...ory_Code=VVWTK

ATP makes available, a 500HP capable turbo hardware kit for the FWD 2.0T FSI, MKV VW Golf/GTI/Jetta and Audi A3 featuring a host of components such as exhaust manifold flanged for GT/T3 series, Garrett GT3071R dual ball bearing turbo with GT V-band exhaust housing outlet, Tial 44mm wastegate with V-band connections, 3" all stainless V-band downpipe and rear transition pipe to stock exhaust, wastegate reroute tube and v-band connections in/out, all stainless coolant and oil lines and fittings, 3" inlet pipe kit with 3" MAF housing along with intermediate inlet pipe with integrated breather ported connection, diverter valve reroute, intermediate charge pipe outlet kit to meet with ATP FMIC pipe.

Thats the GT Vband housing. Its a normal T3 flange and a v-band outlet. Its great for an easy install/removal of the dp. If you havent taken off a t25 5 bolt housing before, ill just tell you it sucks. The atp dps come with a flange to match your turbos housing (T3 4bolt, gt 4bolt, t25, ect) and then a v-band to connect that with the rest of the dp.
