Is using an older Dodge Cummins turbo a possibility?

Yes, its possible and many do it. You just need a HY35 (9cm housing) or HX35 (12cm housing) with a T3 flange. These will be devided but that wont harm much if anything. Then you just need to fab a dp. Most see 20+ psi on a HX35 by 4500 and sooner with a HY35 (from the automatic 5.9). The HY35 can do about 350whp with a stock head and the HX35 can easily do over 400whp. These turbos are usually found for about $150-250 used from shops or ebay
