Urgent Help!
I am planing to buy a stock 1996 Audi a4 stock muffler (mine is too loud and dont want it loud) the thing is my piping looks like its been changed before, i am the 4th owner of this car. Would a stock muffler fit my altered piping? would the loud noise go away? i now have a Aero Turbine exhaust on the 2001 audi a4 here are pics

The stock muffler piping is not going to match up to that, and the stock resonator has been removed. If I were you I'd find a quieter aftermarket muffler, and have a resonator welded in. Or if you're lucky - find a used complete stock exhuast system.

The muffler is what makes the sound in essence, but the absence of a resonator, which muffles and organizes the exhaust air coming out of the engine, removes the annoying very low tone of the exhaust. As onepoint said, your best bet would be finding a stock exhaust set up from a junky, good luck with that though. "catback" refers to the whole exhaust system from your catalytic converter back; pipe, resonator, muffler. You can probably get a way with just getting the resonator and have your exhaust guy weld it in somewhere convenient and you will be happy, I suggest trying that first, then go ahead and look for the stock exhaust. Hope this helped a bit.
