Ugh.. Money Pit

Gosh, thought I lucked out, when I bought the car with under 100K and everything ran fine. Then it hit 100K and all of a sudden, Maf, vacuum leaks, bad coil packs, clutch goes....
Oh and a headlight just went out last night, ugh!

I know I've already spent what I spent on the car in mods/repairs. Bought the car for $3,300 with a leaking coolant flange, beat to **** front end (not fixed yet), stock worn clutch (not replaced yet), and broken motor mounts (fixed).
So far I have had the coolant flange replaced, new thermostat installed, coolant temp sensor replaced, turbo oil feed line replaced, new coolant expansion tank installed, motor mounts replaced, snub mount installed, and put Redline full synthetic in it. After I do the front end work and clutch, the power mods will finally start. Gotta get the car running right and tuned up beforehand.
I've been doing little cosmetic mods while I save up for the bigger repairs. The $30 chrome gauge rings are going to end up costing me $250 after I send the cluster in to repair the odometer that just decided to not light up anymore after installing the rings.

Well for starters, I think most of the guys (including myself) were referring to maintenance costs. Personally I've had to replace all but two control arms, a large portion of the wiring harness in the engine bay, timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, cam seals, crank seals, front brakes/rotors, rear brakes/rotors, a myriad of relays and sensors, some $50 exhaust clamps, and about $25 worth of light bulbs. None of that has anything to do with "******* with the car" so much as just keeping it running, safe, and legal.

i feel your pain i was taking a turn and had my control arm snap so i replaced both driver and passenger control arms and tie rod links then the next day had a hose break replaces all the vac hoses i could get to also replaced the maf , coil packs , icm , all intercooler hoses and turbo inlet hose and now im replacing the turbo coolant flange and still getting misfires on all cyls which i cant figure out why

I feel you man. Over the course of the last year I've had my steering rack, MAF sensor, rear differential seals, front end control arms/ tie rods, Airbag control module, and the rear passenger window regulator replaced on top of buying new rims, coilovers, headlights, and a grill. That is just for the past year. There are other repairs I've had to do in the last 4 years of owning this car. I'm not going to say how much I've spent because the guys on here gave me a ton of sh*t last time I mentioned it. And now the pump for my window washer fluid just crapped out on me. I could have easily had an S4 for how much I've spent maintaining this car, but live and learn I guess.

Wow - reading all this makes me think I'm pretty lucky - bought the car with 98k miles, she's got 132k now, and other than some jerk crushing in both of my driver's doors, oil changes, and brakes I haven't had to maintain anything yet.
