Default Turbo working intermittently??

1999 A4 1.8T Quattro Wagon--As per usual I have a problem with my Audi. Yesterday morning my turbo stopped working, then started working in the afternoon, and quit again the next morning. It is not making any odd noises, and I do not have a check engine light. I ran the VAG-COM and nothing came up. Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong or where to start looking. I basicly feels like the car has no power. The only mod is a APR Stage I chip. Thanks

Yup, n75 valve. I would reset the computer too by diconnecting the battery. Also, might want to log the boost gauge that the computer uses just to make sure it's not getting false readings.

I should have said I also have an apr chip, stage 1. Could that have anything to do with it? I will look into the n75 asap. I haven't had a chance to dig into anything turbo related yet, so this should be fun.

You mentioned the chip in your first post lol. Could the chip be overboosting the turbo and kicking you into limp mode?

^^^limp mode shows as an overboost code. so if he vaged it, an overboost code would have shown up. as a faulty N75 may or may not show any codes. he should also check his DV if hes chiped, and never did changed his DV, could have torn the stock unit. I still think its the N75.

Since I'm not super familiar with working on the turbo systems yet, can you help me translate my repair manual to what you are talking about. It is calling for me to check the wiring, connectors, vacuum hoses and connecting pipes. Then to check the wastegate actuator (N75?) with a vacuum pump and the actuator arm (???)/lever for freedom of moverment. Then disconnect the boost pressure control valve and check the soleniod windings with ohmmeter for open circuit (25-35ohms). If resistance is too high replace control valve.
What is the part that I may have torn and is it standard to upgrade this when you chip the car? Thanks
