Turbo info k16
So I came across this beast for cheep, recently rebuilt.
Its the K16, the bigger of the K16 series as i can tell. That is all i know about this particular unit. Does anybody know what the capabilities of this turbo are and what i need if i want to put this on my 1.8t

I didnt know there was a k16.. Its kinda funny with the huge wheel, but rather small housing. Anyone have a compressor map? Id assume you would need a custom mani (or just a top mount with a different flange), then basically think of it as an elim kit (IC, tune, piping, injectors/rail/fpr combo, clutch, etc)

Yes, but not ideal. It would have to be a bit tuned down. Youre probably better of either getting a dyno tune, or scrapping the idea altogether and finding a turbo that is more common on our cars.

So, what is the least expensive way to replace/swap out a turbo? Its' my daily driver, so I cant send the turbo off for rebuild and wait for it to come back.

Cheapest and easiest way would be to buy a stock replacement k03. But if your going for more power there are almost unlimited options ranging from about 2 grand and up. If you can find a used eliminator, or full turbo kit thats in good shape, then you'll save alot. Someone posted a used APR stage 3 kit for about 1900 iirc. Not sure what head port the mani was setup for, or the tuning, but I believe it was for an 06a, small port setup.
