Hello,
I posted to the turbo section but thought i might be able to get more help in the specific section.

So basically,

I'm looking at buying an A4 quattro 1.8t with 134k this weekend but the turbo has a slight problem we believe.

When you hit it hard and the rpm gets upwards of 5k it dumps the boost and the car lags or something idk how to describe it its weird.

I'm kinda new to this all but I heard it could be a leak in the lines or the turbo could be bad.

The deal im getting on the car is MORE than worth replacing a few parts I was just wondering what the best course of action would be and if I would be spending time finding a leak or if I was gonna have to get a whole new turbo and taking a day to do that.

Haha i've never heard of using a tennis ball to find a leak but thats a great idea! Thanks a lot!

another question is gonna be, what is the mileage on a timing belt? I'm not sure when it was last swapped but it may be due. When about should it be done? I've heard 60k and 120k so if thats the case it should be done soon.

 

every 60-70k it is proven the belt will snap anything after about 70k this is the site for people just getting into the a4's that was created by everyone on here this info will tell you what the commom promblem are and how to fix them =]

So it did end up being the turbo but we got a new one and got it all swapped out. Hopefully it'll last me until I drop the K04 in it!
