I think I may be the only person in the history of the world to ever make profit off of an engine swap! haha. I swapped a turbo engine and transmission and dif and all electronics and hood into a 1990 Mazda RX-7. Payed 600 for a mint condition body that didnt run (100% intact), bought the engine w/ ecu and transmission for 1600 w/ 30k miles (supposedly), 400 for the rear dif, 50 for the drive shaft, 150 for a US wiring harness, rebuilt the harness (free), 200 for new injectors, 20 for plugs, about 500 in misc. That comes to 3550 now I probably had more like 4 in but I sold the car for 4900. Bought the Audi for 4600 that same night.

agreed, and like i said, just buy an S4

but wouldnt swapping in a used 2.7 be cheaper then a $10K+ supercharger for the 2.8?

as for where to get a used 2.7T, find a rear end salvaged A6 or S4 and buy it from either of those, and as for all the other parts, well couldnt you get most of those used as well?

ImtheDevil, Im not a technician so dont rip on me jk lol

peace guys

The supercharger is $3300 and bolts on directly (that price includes ECU reflash, all hardware, bigger injectors, the works). Internals are not needed for the standard blower pulley. Swap to the 2.9" higher-boost pulley and you need rods but you can net nearly 300hp (flywheel) on the standard pulley.

Not trying to **** in your corn flakes Witwer4444, just pointing out that there is so much more to an engine swap on these cars than there is on many older cars. These things are much more computer-controlled, they're all OBD2 or OBD3, and there are a lot of parts that don't interchange, but you'd think they would. And it's all been covered many, many times on here, and those threads are archived and easily searched.

If you were thinking to drop $10k on a supercharger setup, you'd be better served spending $11k or so with 034 Motorsports for a mega-power VR6-T conversion, or selling the 2.8, putting extra money (which would be less than the $10k by far) with the proceeds, and buying an S4.

I'm sure you could find many of those parts used, if not all of them, but you aren't going to want them all used. I'd be hesitant with a used engine bay harness - easy to have damage during removal, or broken connectors, or it could be very brittle from high underhood temps, or have breaks in the wiring here and there - not worth all the work of install to find out it's frigged up. A new one is a smarter option, but it'll cost you a ******** at a dealer.

Spending money in the quest for power is great, and I endorse it, but there's a line that divides worthwhile expense from foolish spending, and with the cost/labor/extent of work that would be required for the S4 swap, you'd definitely be over that line when buying an S4 would be that much easier and cheaper.
