no you cant the VR6 is more of a straight six since it has a 15 degree angle and the exhaust manifold on once side what you can do is either create a custom manifold or use the S4 equipment but you have to lower the compression on the engine sinceour cars use quite high compression 10.3:1 if i remember. your pretty much FUBAR, you can supercharge the car though.

Supercharger= $3500
Built internals= $4000+
Labor= $3000+
Tuning= $1000

Thats the cheapest option for good power. I am estimating it to max out around 350hp w/ the PES supercharger. Dual GT28's would get you 500+hp but at 1k per turbo and thousands in custom manifolds and piping. It makes much more sense to get an S4 and chip it. Chipped they make a little over 300 hp and more torque then is necessary haha.

VR6s didnt come with turbos anyway. Your best bet is PES supercharger, there are a couple for sale on Audizine for half of what they cost new. Otherwise be happy with your real leather, nice ride and the fact that your '01 looks way better than your buddy's new cobalt.

Hopefully you can see why that wouldnt work. Its far from a V6

Not to mention the intake is on one side and the exhaust on the other like a straight 6

ya the S4 or the A6 2.7L Turbo, probably one of the best engines audi has ever made.

and u can get a used one @ a fraction of the cost of supercharging the 2.8.

In other words, NOT WORTH IT......SWAP IN A 2.7T

or just buy a damn S4 dude

Have you looked at what it takes to "swap in" a 2.7T? Research it here using the search feature. Unless you blow someone who will give you a complete donor car in return, the purchase of the parts by themselves (plus the maintenance you should do to R&R the used engine, such as a new timing assembly, etc) will likely exceed the price you'd pay for an S4 on top of the proceeds from the sale of the 2.8. Here's an idea - engine, transmission, drive axles, spindles, brakes (since the last four are needed for use with the engine - the 2.8 hardware won't work), ECU, engine bay harness, chassis harness, turbo hardware (ie, intercoolers, piping, DVs, downpipes, possibly cat-back as well), S4 front bumper for proper airflow to the ICs, upgraded clutch (since the idea of a motor swap doesn't lend itself to the belief that he'd leave it stock), resurfacing flywheel, etc etc etc ad infinitum...

Updated result of inquiry - do not attempt to "drop in" an S4 motor. Sell the 2.8 and buy the S4 if that's what you desire. Or sell the 2.8 and buy a 1.8T and mod the bejeezus out of that - either one will give you the chance to make far more power than the 2.8 even with a supercharger, unless you're prepared to spend gigantic amounts of money for head/cam work, upgraded internals, drivetrain mods, stronger S4 axles (which again require the S4 spindles and brakes), custom tuning, and Christ knows what else. And of course, dumping that kind of coin into a car that's already 8 years old is not the best idea you could have from a financial standpoint (I know what I'm talking about here - I did exactly that with my 300ZX. I spent a metric shitload of money modding that car and lost enough on its sale that I could've paid off the balance of my house and still had enough for a PES G2 for my Audi). Learn from the mistakes that others have made in that regard. It's fun until the car goes away, and it will - despite what you may feel about it, you won't always have that car, and you'll lose your *** down the line. Been there, done that, and I even sold off most of the mods and extra parts separately. Still lost several pounds of flesh in the process.

Bottom line - it's a dumb idea. If you want the power of a particular engine, save all the hassle and most of the money and buy the car that has that engine already in it.
