you might be talking about projectors. your car has projectors for headlight lenses instead of the conventional big housing lenses.

if your car has HIDs from the factory the way that you would tell... hm
are they bluer than conventional headlights? i think the stock audi HIDs were 6000k, pretty blue.
when you kick them on, do they kick on INSTANTLY like an LED, and then take about 10 seconds to fully brighten?

other ?:

NO, Audi A4's use single beam, dont get the bi-xenon dual beam. thats for housings that you notice only one headlamp bulb to put it easiest.

If you have HIDs, when you turn them off, they literally vanish. And as they said, bi-xenons are meant for cars that have one bulb for low and high beams. The Audi uses separate bulbs for each of those, so to have xenon for both, you need two single-beam kits.

i think he was referring to the quality and brightness of the light as compared to a factory setup. if it would look the same.
LOL Damn, forgot I even posted in this thread! Sorry, I'm kind of an *** when I'm drunk.

the difference between factory installed xenon, and a hid kit will the be projectors.. xenon projectors are different with their beam cut offs and reflectors

96-99 will not have projectors and you can not put a hid kit in them
99.5+ will have projector housings, and may come factory equipped with xenon
normal halogen projector housings will have h7 bulbs where as xenon housings will have d2s bulbs
if you have a 99.5+ car without xenons factory, you will need an h7 hid kit

Well, technically you can put the H7 kit in (I did that before I got my Depo lights) but the beam pattern isn't optimal and it throws the light around rather than focusing it as it should. That being said, the OEM reflector lights suck so badly with halogens that anything at all is an improvement, and the HID upgrade in those lights definitely helps. It doesn't hold a candle to the HID output in projectors though. With the Depo lights, halogens put out better light than HIDs in reflector housings.

I have HID's and Projectors on my A4. I got basically the same Projectors you have there. and I have 6000k HID the cost for the HID lights was around 200-250.
