i've been offered a 98 A4
the transmission is locked up and it appears the TCM got wet.
is this a simple matter of just plugging in a new TCM
or is something else involved?
need to get the car moved today

I would imagine that, as long as the controller has the same part number as the one you're taking out, that you could simply replace it, do any cleanup necessary around the module and its harness, and fire up the car. Swapping parts out with the car off won't throw any codes, but a Vag scan might be a good idea in any event if anyone around you has Vagcom and can supply it.
