Default I was updating my post during your reply.

I would attempt to do it myself for sure if I had a lift, Im wondering how difficult it would be if I could maybe find some way to get the car on rhino ramps (all four tires) or something like that. I guess to avoid the hassle, it might be worth paying someone to do it. I bought this car really cheap, so if I can get it going fairly cheaply, I will still feel like I have a good deal here.

Default Update

Ok...so the new neutral switch went in and guess what? NO change at all. So, it is probably safe to assume that I have 3 good multifunction switches. The switch took me just over an hour to put in, mainly because I couldnt exactly remember how I got in to undo the trans mount bolts... From the write ups I have seen on changing the switch, they suggest taking the driver's side wheel off, I saw this as completely unnecessary since there is enough room to work.

I lost interest after this big let down, so I think I might have a professional look at it to see if they can figure out what is going on with my trans. I can drive the car if I disconnect the TCM because the car will just stay in 4th and not try to shift gears.

I now know why I have not owned an Audi since HS....the trans are crap! I remember I didnt have reverse on my audi 4000s in HS....me and buddies had to push my car to back out! hahaha.

Is the new TCM coded correctly for your car? I doubt that's your problem but it's worth a try. The codes are explained here. You should be a non-DBW car so it's probably coded correctly but it's free to check so it's worth a try.
