Question Tranny swap?!?!?!

i need a new tranny i destroyed mine in a snowstorm and just beating the f^ck out of the tiptronic so the car is just sitting in the driveway waiting to get fixed but im tired of the tiptronic. i was wondering how much a swap to a five speed might be and what i would need to get my hands onto and if anyones tried it to give me some advice. everyone says to just sell the car and get a 5speed but the car is very special to me and as sentimental value to me. so any help would be appreciated.

you would need a new engine, transmission/mounts, and drivetrain components. the easiest way to do it would be to get your hands on a donor car to steal parts from and so you can see how it comes off. that makes it easier for putting it back together on your car. you would also need the wiring harness and ecu to go with all that stuff.

if you have a junk yard near you and are doing the labor yourself, you my be able to justify this route over selling the car. this project could become more expensive then the cars value when all is said and done.

from what i remember you will need the tranny, mounts, clutch and all that other good stuff, but you will also need a new crank or an engine that has the crank made for the manual tranny. personally not worth the swap.

I've done the conversion for my customers.

Never had to replace the crank - had custom SM LW flywheels made, with the doss designed to accept a spigot bearing.

You sure you killed the trans? Usually when people are dicking around in the snow they just snap an axle.

yeah im pretty sure over a period of time my first gear wouldnt catch and then after probably 2 months it got worse and worse till the car wouldnt move unless you reved it up to 4000 for 5 seconds then the car i guess would go over to 2nd and start driving so when i was raping the poor virgin parking lot there was no 1st gear. i felt like a jolt or a it sounds weird but a crack and there was black fluid dots following me i thought it was oil from the engine but i check the levels and they were fine so i got to a friends house and the car wouldnt make it up the hill and then it wouldnt reverse we ended up pushing it about 1/2 a mile where i left it for 3 days. i think a seal broke but the first gear is what bothers me and if i need to rebuild the tranny id rather get what i originally wanted and thats a 5speed but if i cant do i guess ill have to part out the car and scrap it and start savin up for a 5speed or try and find a bmw e30. the other problem with the car is that it wont start like it will start once for 5 seconds and die after that theres no chance so idk its starting to seem not worth it to me its just makes me depressed
