well that car has an electronically controlled throttle so if the computer doesnt want you to press the throttle for some reason, it wont send the gas pedal signal to the actual throttle. if the TCU is telling the car there is a problem getting into gear or something, it might not let you rev the engine. is the part number on the original TCU the same as on the TCU for the transmission you got from the passat?

I'm not familiar with where the TCU is located?

So you're trying to rev it up with the car on a lift? Perhaps its the traction control freaking out since the tires are 'slipping' in mid air?

You know what, I'm kind of thinking you could possibly be onto something. I was just sitting here thinking that it may not have enough resistance for it to work properly as I just tried it again.

And for verficiation:the engine does NOT bog down when the gas pedal is hit. THe speedometer goes up to about 20 mph each time and the cv shafts spin, however the throttle really has no input.

So I'm wondering if Kendall might be sniffing the right track.

Ok, just wanted to thank you guys for the help.

It appears to have been the trac control. I haven't taken it for a drive yet but it does appear to function correctly. I still need to pick up some more trans fluid and my power steering is empty? So I will need to get some of that too.

Oh, and which bank does Audi consider Bank 1. I have a code for an 02 sensor
