Today is a sad day for my b5

car payment? really? i didnt even know dealerships still sold b5's lol

insurance payments. cause on my parents cars they have full coverage on their cars for the liability charge on my car. insurance says its a sport car, and turbo'd so that pushes the price up plus im only 17 so yea insurance is a dam pain.

Few B5s are worth full collision insurance, and that's not what the OP needs here. This is called comprehensive insurance and it'll have a deductible of, most likely, $500, unless you can find the guy. Also LOL at full collision being only $200 more than limited collision. Absolutely not. Full collision is expensive. Limited is cheap. Limited is crap and full wouldn't even help him in this situation.

I have total coverage. Had to, since the car was under loan. I just turned 18. Despite the totaled car on record and a turbo under the hood and my young age my insurance is $150 per month. A honda civic, with lots less power and no turbo would cost me over $200 per month.

yeah my 1995 honda civic vs my 1999 audi a4 is a difference of $13 every 6 months. and the extra $200 is per policy period which is 6 months. So when you break down the math I pay roughly $79 a month for full coverage! I guess I am getting a really good deal!

To the OP, I would call your insurance company. Even if you just have liability, sometimes they throw in uninsured/underinsured motorist protection as well.
At least that's the case in NH with Progressive as an insurance company.
To everyone else who seems to think full coverage is the only way to go, if you have a car that is 97 and under or a car with a value of less than $3,000 you should not have full coverage IMO. Of course this depends on how much it is for full coverage each month.
In my case, it's not worth it (with my subaru). The car is only booked at $3,000 ish and they want an extra $100 a month. Multiply that by however many months you've owned the car (or plan to) and you've got quite the chunk of change. Not to mention full coverage (liability, comprehensive, and collision) is only a benefit if you screw up at driving and need your car repaired. Basic insurance (liability) covers you if you hit someone else or destroy someone's property.
But to each their own. Once the Audi is out of my garage in the spring, It will have full coverage. But that's because it has a book of about $7,000. And I'm not into the game of risk.
