Default Tire Advice please... Nexen, Falken, Kumho

So I am about a week away from driving my 2000 A4 1.8T quattro from South Carolina to Maine for the summer, and I realized a few days ago my tires are shot, and will not make it back to maine. My mechanic is less than trustworthy sometimes, and wanted me to get tires that cost about 200 bucks a piece, which I just cant afford. So yes... I'm looking on ebay

So I am leaning toward the ASX they have the best reviews, the NEXENs feel cheap. Also, my mechanic wanted me to get Kumho K21s, which look very cheap too.

Any advice on these tires? Also is it stupid to buy off ebay? they say they are never mounted, but could have been in a warehouse oxidizing for months too.....

Thanks a lot guys - Evan

another note, I was also looking at samsclub because things there are ridiculously cheap. Would any of these be as good as the ASX or 912?

i personally just bought a set of nexen n3000. the size is quite different from what your looking at but i am happy with them. i bought locally for 317 after tax and mounted and balanced them myself. from what i found you can prolly find a set of tires locally cheaper than ebay because of shipping. just call a bunch of places, espescially mom and pop joints.

I ran those n5000s for about 15k and they were not too bad. They held up nicely in some shitty snowstorms and did ok on some spirited canyon runs, even did a couple auto cross events on them. For the money they're good. The only reason I dont run them now is cuz I had a huge chunk of metal get lodged in one and I switched to a dedicated winter and summer set. i wouldve got some n3000s for my summer set but no shops around here could get them for any less than I paid for my General Exclaims.
