Default Tiny air hose?

Please help my identify a very small air hose that I accidentally severed (!!) while replacing the driver-side valve cover. It's about the size of a 10-gauge wire and, I'm sorry to report, easily chopped in half. It hissed for about 2-3 seconds and then stopped. There was no liquid and no smell. It runs next to the driver-side cam pulley cover before diving down under the coolant reservoir. What did I do??
