1st thing i'd do mate is turn crank by hand to see if theres interference, assuming belt aint snapped!,if there is its a bent valve(s)

take out your spark plugs and the timing belt cover, crank the engine over by hand, with a wrench on the crankshaft, 17 or 19mm if i remember correctly. if you hear a metal on metal sound in the spark plug holes and/or you the engine stops and wont turn any furthur by hand- you might be spending alot of money.

you can take the car (on a flatbed) to a mechanic and have them do a pressure check to see if the valves are holding pressure.

a broken/slipped timing belt wont throw a VAG code. usualy when this happens you know about it. how did you come to this diagnosis? was there a terrible noise right before your engine stoped?

and obviously, until you know for sure that the timing belt is ok and in the correct position DO NOT try to start the car.

If you think it's broken, pull back the timing belt upper cover and look.

If it's in tact, then spin over the engine by hand.
