Default throttle body cleaning

So as an answer to an earlier post about erratic idle speed it seems my first line of attack is to clean the throttle body. How?. I assume this is the unit with the accelerator cable wheel on top of it.Do i just unfasten it and clean it refit it and job done?

yup. take the intake tube off, take the throttle body off. clean it put it back. all done. You also might want to hit the IAT - intake air temp sensor. And theres a cover on the side of the throttle body for all the electronic bits. pop that off and give it a look. If its dirty clean if with electronics cleaner if not leave it alone.

All this is easier said than done but its not a hard job at all. good luck. Also check vacuum lines they cause erratic idle.
