Throttle body cleaning
Hey guys, just curious if there is a throttle body cleaning DIY out there? I searched for it, and looked through the first 6 pages and came up with nothing so im sorry if there is something i overlooked.
I am not a noob, but have never done this before and just want to look over a DIY to make sure i dont miss anything that will keep me off the road. Do i NEED to to a TBA after? (i am drive by cable, 1997 1.8t)
also - do i NEED a new gasket if i do this? thanks guys, any info or links would be awesome.

Just take off the big flex-hose that connects to it, spray it down while playing with the throttle to let you spray as much surface as you can, and reconnect. You don't need to remove the TB so no gaskets necessary. Do this all with the car off. You can do it with the engine running if you want to for N/A applications (well, depending on the chemical you use) but not for turbo.

I jack up the car so the TB points downward, prop it open, and spray it down with air intake cleaner. Stuff a rag under it so when all that crap runs out the rag catches it. I spray in and scrub it as far in as I can reach with an old toothbrush to get it all out. Then wipe down the inside and put the piping back on. That's about all there is to it.
