things that go wrong with ALL A4's

Audi newbie speaking - How much does it usually cost you guys to keep up with these common problems? What would be your average costs per year maintaining an Audi to fend these off?
Thanks in advance,
Alex

my little money pit
I've had my 01 A4 1.8 for about 14 months. Bought it from a dealer with 86k miles. Change oil with royal purple. Changed plugs with ngk, changed air filter and changed rear diff fluid as preventative maint. was shifting rough so had dealership check trans. down 3 quarts. Put over 40K on it since i've had it. I've had 2 wheel bearings go out, alternator (twice), fuel pump, central locking door pump (which still isn't right), tensioner pulley, timing was off, cam position sensor, heater core went out, section of exhaust, and the kicker...timming chain somehow is off and I need new timming chain tensioner. Audi estimates 1,200 bucks. Variable timming is not working properly. I am thinking of purchasing a subaru.

wow. I am relieved to hear others have the ghost in the sunroof also. I always just considered the car *haunted*.
Now that it's cold again, my A4 is demonizing my life. EPC comes on when I start the car. Turn it off, start it again- rides fine. Brakes act up- like the line is frozen and then finally- clunk- they're on full as soon as the car warms up a bit. Makes for dangerous driving.
I can barely afford to have a mechanic anymore- or at least my incompetent one.
It's become a DIY lesson if I've ever had one.
Just fixed the front brakes.
trunk mechanism lock broke -thing slid- so had to open up the trunk and realign it.
window mechanism replaced on rear.
coil packs
vacuum hoses
ect.

oh- and I forgot to mention the crazy tail lights. They're a bitch to remove - so last time I replaced ALL the bulbs when I had it off- two months later- another brake light out!
One of the slots doesn't even get a reading off the multimiter- it's a rear fog light- but as long as there is a bulb present it's okay. huh. dumb.
