Prior to purchasing my car I told the dealer that the non-functioning cruise control was a deal breaker, he had it fixed within 30 minutes, lol.

Another common failure would be lower exterior door moldings rotting and cracking. Happened to me and many others.

So, my car has thrown three headlight switches in the past two years, the one that came with the car, a brand new one from audi, and a used one. after the third switch went, I took apart one of the old switches and found the problem is in what seams to be a defective part inside the switch. luckily i was able to "customize" the part and fix it this last time for free, we shall see how long that lasts

The ONE thing I forgot to check out when I bought my A4 and on my way back from Virginia found out it didn't work . I still cannot get my cruise to operate after replacing the switch, module and checking everything else out. Gotta be electrical or something??? Cruise should be on a recall list but of course it's not a safety thing...

Mine is starting to mess up a little bit now, but still works for the most part. Sometimes I have to try to set it two or three times before it actually holds. There's a cruise control repair figure in the Bently Manual, I think it includes how to check for and fix every possible malfunction, don't quote me on that though.

cruise also works off of vacuum lines, so if there is a chance for a small vacuum leak that could mess up the cruise, but mine also is shoddy and not entirely sure why.

Bought my '01 A4 about 4 years ago. Within the first 48 hrs, traveled to Boston from VA and back again. Minute I touched down, engine blew (dealership said loose bolt got in cylinder head???) got it back after 45 days. Cv boots ripped, coils went bad 5x.

Fast forward to 2009, bad cat, emotional sunroof, abs light, cruise control is iffy, interior lights dim on and dim off, AC clutch needs replacing.

But when I go on long drives, nothing else matters and all is forgiven.

I used a dremel but a chainsaw was next in my arsenal of tools.
