Default Tackling bunch of airbag codes 65535, 00532, 00588, 01025

Next on my list of endless issues with this 1996 A4 2.8 12V AFC are the airbag codes.
Considering the sheer quantity, am I dealing with a bad module? Do they have a tendency to fail? If the likeliness is high, would it be advised to get a used module and hope it fixes it?

Even so 3 of the 4 codes say intermittent, they are ALWAYS there (at least 10 time codes erased, battery disconnected, etc.); they consistently come back.

Where to start with the troubleshooting?

For trial/error (could be module or elements itself), I decided to buy a used module (alternative, if I knew the module is bad, have my module fixed for $50 on ebay). Worst case (if not the module), I can sell again.

Installed module yesterday. All airbag codes gone.

Hope it stays that way.

If they do come back, it is probably the connector underneath your seat. Search this forum and you'll find pics and DIYs....

Sofar, no airbag codes returning. On our 1.8T, we were struggling for a long time with airbag codes. Loosened up the under seat connector, no good. Cleaning, etc. no help either. Finally, a few weeks ago, did the 'cut the darn thing out' on passenger side, and that code is gone now. Next week, will cut the driver side under seat connector out as well; good chance it will get rid of that last code as well.

Bought this piece (thought it is the lamented 'clock spring' but not sure. Any idea what it is?
