Default Synthetic or high mileage oil?

Gotta change my oil soon. Last time I was at my local shop they recommended using this high mileage oil instead of synthetic since my car has over 100k miles on it. Anyone else with high mileage use an oil blend like this? Or should I just stick with synthetic?

If you've been using synthetic, I think you'd better stick with it.

Synthetic is better and once you start using it you cannot go back to regular oil.

not true. However if you need to cheap out enough to buy conventional over synthetic then you've purchased the wrong car. I think its acutally in a TSb to only use synthetic for the 1.8t in these cars, and its just a good idea for the v6 too. Syntheitc is a better base oil to begin with and almost exclusvely has a better addative package. Versus a high mileage conventional oil that just has some seal coniditoners and a bit moreceaning agents. If you want a high milage oil mobile 1 is made in high mileage forumulations in a 10w40 viscosity. I've used it before and didnt have any problems, but have since switched to mobile 1 extended performance 15w50

Its not real hard, syn protects better and last longer as well. This will more than make up the cost of paying the extra for syn by not having to replace it for 7-10k miles (turbo change it 6-7k NA can go to 10K)

Go with Full Synthetic oil! Is better for your car.

Autozone has a deal right now for 5 qts full syn and a $7 toughguard oil filter for $19. If you don't like the filter toss it or get one for your other cars cause 19 bucks is awesome for 5 qts of syn. I have my next 4 oil changes covered, for just $76

1 quick question.... when you are using full syn oil for your engine, do you guys still change oil every 3k miles?

currently using Castrol Euroformula 5w40 full sync.

I usually change it between 3,000 and 4,000 miles, but there seem to be pretty conflicting opinions on just how far you can go between LOF jobs. My mechanic says that I should absolutely use synthetic and that I absolutely should change it every 3,000 miles, but I also believe cincyTT when he says that we can go further. I think I wouldn't try to push it to 10,000 miles, but I wouldn't at all worry about going 5,000 miles between changes.
