Switchblade key fob

Switchblade key fob
Has anyone here reprogrammed and had a key cut for a switchblade key and used it on a pre-facelift A4?
I have a 97 A4 and was given a switchblade key fob in near perfect condition. I'd like to have it reprogrammed and the key changed to work with my car. I called one dealership and they said they could try it but didn't know if it would work, another dealership said that it just won't work.
Anyone done it?

Yea i did it not too long ago.
you need the 2 button + panic remote and you need to reprogram it to your car (and if your car didn't come with factory remote, you need to activate remote with vag-com)
the blade has to be cut at a locksmith (i had to call about 10 places to find 1 place where they cut these ''special'' keys, and it cost around $30)

I had the remote with lock, unlock, trunk, and panic. Only the lock and unlock buttons work, but it still works. My key apparently didn't have an immobilizer chip (I think that's what it's called) either which surprised me, so I just had the key cut, then programmed the remote using a key in the ignition and a key in the door. And I have a pre-facelift btw.

So I called a couple different dealerships about my question and got varying responses. One dealership said it couldn't be done, another said they could do it. I went to the one that said they could do it and the guy I talked to there said he didn't know if it would work. He referred me to a local locksmith that does Audi reprogramming and keying. He also said he didn't know if the reprogramming would work, but even if it doesn't it would cost me $45 to have them do it. If it does work, it would be another $35 to have the key cut.
I think it's pretty lame that it would cost me $45 even if the programming doesn't work. Should I go for it?
As I was typing this an ad for www.ikeyless.com popped up so I shot them an email asking them if it will work.
