Default Swapping to a wideband sensor/computer?

I have a 2000 and I want to switch to a wide band O2 setup (because then Unitronics says they'll be able to tune out my SAI/rear O2 stuff on that computer). Anyone familiar with this swap? I assume I'd need a new computer, new harness, new O2 sensor from/for a 2001?

if you want a wideband o2 sensor, you need a wideband controller that has a 'simulated' narrow band output wire if you want to replace your primary O2 sensor with a wideband sensor. i have the LC1 from innovative motorsports and it has this function.

you will not be able to swap out ecus or wiring harnesses from another car. if unitronics cant do it on the ECU that you have now, they cant do it for your car even if you had an LC1. you cant run a 2001 ECU unless you have it in a 2001 car.

That's not what they said. Here's the email from Steve @ Unitronics:
The reason why is because of the narrowband ecu, in order to get the emissions deleted as we speak you will need to convert your car into a wideband ecu. Its pretty simple, all you need is the wideband ecu, the wideband 02 sensor and the extra wiring coming from the 02 to the ecu. I'm pretty sure 034 will be able to hook you up with all that stuff. A lot of people are considering that conversion because they have much more options available and its much safer for big turbo setups. Let me know if you need anything else!
The email's actually pretty clear, but I am just posting here to be sure. Also, perhaps people could suggest to me where I can buy the stuff I need, such as the harness. I found a thread on vwvortex where they said the O2 wire isn't in the main engine harness.

yes to do that swap you would need to replace all of the parts you listed. You will also need the cluster unless you are going to have Uni do a immobilizer delete too.

Mike, do you know anything about the harness I would need? I guess I'll probably end up having to go to the JY around here since they have an 01.... Would prefer if I could find it on Ebay though since going to the JY's a pain. Edit again: Damn, seems they've got a 2.8 (or they don't list the ECU as being available...)

Does it matter if it's from an AT or MT car, or can that be fixed with programming (either from Unitronics or like VAG-COM)?

The soft code in the 01 can be changed to work on either the AT or MT, so you just need to find a 018CH or 018M box.
