Sunroof switch not working properly

Sunroof switch not working properly
Since a few weeks, the sunroof index switch is not working properly anymore. This seems to be a common problem, since I had the same happening on my older Audi 100 (1994). The malfunction (not moving into the position, not closing when in closed position) occurs more often, and now has reached the point where lots of fiddling is required to get the sunroof closed.
Is the selector switch on the roof console the problem, or some positioning switches/indicators in the sunroof itself?
What is the fix? How? Does the car have to go to the stealership?
Last week, a class action law suit mailing ("Water Ingress Settlement") arrived, stating that Audi pays any out of pocket cost for repair of sunroof drain system and/or replacing of the "TCM System" (not sure what that is).
more: www.wateringresssettlement.com
It reads as if the my defect is not covered per se; any invoice would have to refer in the text to 'drain system repair', I guess.

I think your problem is explained well in that thread.
I have one sunroof in my car that has the same problem. I "fixed" it by unplugging the switch once it was closed securely. I found 2 more used sunroofs, neither of which work because of the same problem. I think a new unit costs just over $1000, but if you find a better replacement or a fix to the guides, please let me know. I want to fix the plastic guides myself, but don't have the time right now. Getting the sunroof out of the car isn't that easy either, but it is doable.
Law Suit Thread was discussed a few weeks back, so this may help you out too:
