Default subwoofer question! *help me with pics*

* POST PICS of your systems to give me ideas!! *

Hey everyone, i was looking to throw a small subwoofer into my car. i was thinking a good quality 8" or AT THE MOST a 10" . I dont want anythign very big, i used to be very into car audio and had many of the top of the line subs (kicker l7 , MTX 9500, brahma) 12 and 15" subs because i had a ford explorer and didnt care about weight. but they basically blew my car apart.

OK

I have never looked into 8" subs but my friend with an SVT focus has one and it sounds very clean and gets plenty loud for my current taste.

I have an alpine amp already so i would like to use it again it is perfect

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2okl5R0...x?i=500MRPM350

It is 200w RMS at 4 ohms and 350w RMS at 4 ohms so i should have plenty of power for a nice 8 or decent 10 " . does anyone have any suggestions on what to get? i am kind of clueless what people have in their cars now

i also will be making my own custom enclusere to fit this as i have many times in the past and they are wayyy better than the avg best buy ones in sturdyness and build quality imo

SOOOOOOO

POST SOME PICS OF YOUR TRUNK! i want to see what looks good in an audi ha

ALSO - what sub should i get?!

go with memphis regardless... Its very clean excellent sound quality and will push with all competition... Plus not many people run with it... If your looking for small go with 2 or 3 10's. Get a 1000 watt m-class d amp from memphis and you'll be set. Id recommend getting a capacitor too... Ill post pics of my set up in a lil while...

why would he want 2 or 3 10's? i would go with JL 8w7...they are the top of the line although a little expensive. runs perfect with a JL 250x1 or if you want to push it a 10w7 and 500x1 would be the next step and is more than enough power for a small car like an a4.
heres a link for the 8w7- http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=1
10w7 - http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=5
and something i just found on their site thats new for 08'- thin drive subs. im sure theyre plenty expensive but if space is an issue these will definitely help out...i think they only come in 13in diameters. **the recommended enclosure for this sub is only 7.75in deep**

i picked up a 12" jl w3v2 from a friend that was moving for $50. I built an enclosure from scrap wood from previous builds and bought a refurb viper amp off ebay. I put the whole system together for $100, but i didnt carpet the box or anything so idk if you want picutures. just imagine your run of the mill ported mdf box with no hidden wires or anything haha.

imho, jl is way overpriced. its good stuff and has treated me great so far, but if i didnt get a steal of a deal on the w3, i would have never bought it. when i'm itchin for something new, i normally search the classifieds on caraudio.com. there's so much used stuff for sale on there its not funny. you can honestly go back 10-15 pages if you have the time.

You want to save weight for what reason? You got that Audi proto type that they race LeMAns? So many people say they dont want to add extra weight in their car but if you add an 8 then your basically fooling yourself and your bass will be weak! Please dont tell us your adding a sub to a stock deck, do you care how much space it takes up? The new JL 13TW5 are loud and we have hooked up a few of them at my shop. One in a Lambo Mercilago was pretty loud for a convertible. $500 bucks a sub, $500 for the amp (5001v2)

All I am saying is weight should not be an issue, dont waste your money on an 8W7, get a 10W3 if your doing a solo sub... mY OPINION, DO ALL YOUR DOORS WITH SOME NICE FOCALS FIRST.... Then do a 10....

8in might be a little weak, but I'm sure it would compliment the stock radio just fine. There are plenty of people including myself who use a sub along with the stock radio/speakers and are very happy with it. As long as you wire RCA outputs from the back of the HU instead of using a hi/low converter, there should be no problem, and it should work fine. Just make sure to run your power and audio cables down seperate sides of the car.
If you have a symphony II radio, you can access the hidden EQ and make it even better.

Nothing. Your mids and highs wont be what they could with an aftermarket radio/speakers, but for someone thats looking for very good sound quality with some tight bass, as opposed to full blown bass shaking concert surround sound, the addition of a sub to the stock radio is good enough, and even better if you have a symphony II+ The difference using RCA's out the back of the HU and using a Hilo conv. is big. Is there a f%*&ing echo in here???!
