Default Stupid Question about 1-piece conversion

Why do they remove the bumper in the write up? I dont get it he says he removes it to pull out the old headlights but you dont have to remove it to do that.. Does it need to be removed for the dremeling? And does anyone have some pics of what to dremel? Thanks

It is because once you put the one piece lights in, you have to still secure the hex screw that holds the bottom of the light in place. With the two piece it is easy because the corners can come out and you can reach it. With the one piece you cannot. I tried to put my one piece lights in without taking the bumper off and it was a pain. I eventually ended up taking the bumper off anyway. It helped a lot actually.

Isnt the third screw on the back bottom of the 1-pieces instead of the side? Then does this mean if I ever want to take them out Id hafta take the bumper off again? Could I only secure it with the top screws?

I have a 1998.5 and there are 2 bolts that hold the bottom tabs....

the only way to get my headlights out is by removing the bumper...

maybe I am missing something...I know that it is super easy to get the headlights out once the bumper is off...

maybe the bottom mounting tabs on your headlights have been broken off?

I was only aware of three bolts on the 2-pieces, two on top and one on the side. To get to the side one you push the blinker release on the top of it and it slides out. (The owners manual has a pic)

Idk, i dont see two bottom screws on my old 2-piece or my new 1-pieces...

If I hafta take the bumper off to take these lights off and put them in, that sucks. Would there be any big problems with just attaching the two upper screws..

This is the section of the fender you will need to remove with a Dremel tool.

This is what I did originally, but my lights would shake when I was driving. That is why I ended up taking my bumper off to secure them properly.

Also, you are correct about there only being 3 screws for the 2 piece. And yes it is easy to get the one that is in the back off to the side with the 2 piece. With the 1 piece you cannot access the screw easily, which is why you have to take the bumper off. I hope this clears things up.
