studdering acceleration when cold

Default studdering acceleration when cold

so when my car (98 1.8tq) is cold I get really choppy boost/ studdering acceleration and then once the engine is up to temp it quits.has a year old oem DV in it. has an open air intake, but otherwise stock. any ideas?

When is the last time you changed your plugs?

I havent. didnt even think about that. would that be the cause?

haha, yes, if u have bad plugs then not enough spark is happening so your going to feel a lot of choppiness in your acceleration.

a lot of people get the NGK BKR6E plugs, they are a good platinum plug. just as long as you get a platinum plug (since they last longer then copper) for your car it should be fine.

If your plugs are fouled badly, they'll give a real weak spark especially when cold and improve slightly as they heat up. It's worth a shot especially since you don't even know when or if they've been replaced..
