Default Strut Mount install

Hey guys,

So I need to replace my upper strut mount and I just needed clarification before ordering the part. I'm guessing I'll have to disconnect all my CAs and knuckle and remove the strut... Do I need spring compressors to compress the spring and take it off that mounting plate at the top? Is the strut mount in there?

Thanks

You'll need a spring compressor to get the top plate off. Strut mounts are rarely an issue. You sure it needs replaced?

Yeah well I've changed all the CAs, TE and end link and there is still a rattling coming from up there so I'm pretty sure its the strut mount. The part is only like 10$ so if it isn't the issue it's not the end of the world.

you should check your inner brake pad. mine is loose and it sounds like the car is falling apart..

Definitely check that inner pad - it's been the culprit for several people.

I had the pad/ caliper retaining clip on the outside pop out and it produced a horrible rattle. I was very surprised... Car drove and stopped fine. The strut mount would be more likely to squeek or thud rather than rattle if it was bad.

If it may be the retaining clip or brake related, I would not put it off. Takes about 2.5 minutes to jack up the car take the wheel off to have a look.
