Default Strange thing happening....

I have a 99 a4 2.8 manual and its been doin something really wierd. For some reason the car wont stall when I have the clutch out in first gear even though im not giving it any gas....it just keeps going at about 5 mph and is reving at about 1,000 rpm. When I have the car in second gear and am going about 30mph and then let go of the gas and just coast, the car coasts down till its reving at 1,000 rmp and then just maintains that speed, again im not giving it any gas at this point. The same thing happens in the rest of the gears aswell, the car simply wont stall. Does anyone know what might be causing the car not to stall!! Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Are you actually complaining that your car won't die?

hold the brake and it will stall.... if thats what you want to happen for some reason.

yes the idle controller wants the car not to stall so if its in gear it gives it gas, it only works to a point though, if you are on a hill or there is a big load on the engine it will stall.

This just started happening recently. Im not saying I want it to stall. What im saying is that for a manual car the engine should stall if you let out the clutch in first gear without giving it any gas; the car will lurch forward and then stall. What im experiancing is when I let out the clutch in first gear without giving it any gas the car will go on its own at about 5 mph FOREVER.

I have driven many manual cars and none of them do this. Each and every one including my own until this point will stall if you dont give it gas once the car slows down enough to the point where it is almost stopped, unless you push the clutch back in. So unless im not being clear what is happening this cant be normal.

It sounds normal to me. My car does the same as you're explaining.

idk what car's you've driven but i've driven other manual cars and none of them do what your other cars do. i've even driven an 88 toyota van with no power steering and it was even the same thing. i hope you won't drive anything other than audis anymore lol

ok, just so were all on the same page here, everyone is telling me that a manual car should never stall aslong as the brakes are not applied, there are no steep hills or heavy load, even if the foot is off the gas. The car (no matter what gear it is in) will just keep on goin....?

you just never noticed it. Even in my civic I could get the car going in first gear without giving it any gas...
