Sup everyone, I'm new here cause I just bought a black 97 A4Q 2.8 12v 5speed.

Not sure if this is an Audi thing or if I have a problem. When I crank the engine, it only engages the starter .25 of a second at a time. However, there has been a rare occasion that it cranks more than once - thus starting just fine.

Anyone know what the deal is? I've researched a **** ton to come up with nothing. I'd appreciate the help.

 

If you are saying the starter motor turns fine but the bendix gear only engages for .25 seconds, you've got to assume its the bendix.
