If you want to be serious--No, I've actually never driven 4Motion. Surprising since I'm such a Volkswagen-Audi Group fan, but between friends and loaner cars I've driven the MB and BMW equivalents. Never 4Motion, though...

From what I have heard, though, there is no comparison between quattro and 4Motion. That could just be the "pride" of Audi owners, though... Haven't really done my research.

I haven't played in snow in anything besides quattro but I can almost guarantee that the equivalents won't be as good. I played around in wet grass in 4Matic with the traction control completely off (it has two settings) and it still wasn't that great. As far as X-Drive goes, well... I totaled my Dad's 325Xi in the snow only a week after trading my quattro, so that pretty much explains itself.

No doubt audi invented awd system but in that note i drove something with awd who can comes very very close to quattro , it was my old rally car group M bmw e30 factory racing that car had the same engine that 2011 m3 has and an awd system very well built, and i raced that car for 3 years in the european championship with no problems and i did pretty well . So PHil don't underestimate bmw .

Yes it is a very fast car but that one had a single turbo setup , u can find how car looked if u search on google e30 DTM car and u will see what i am talking about, that engine matted with a 6 speed seqential transmission with dogbox can be very frigtening for who does not lnow how to handle a car on a road or offroad corse, i qoute my dad who was a figher pilot on MIG after i took him on a trial run on catalunia gravle secial "i had my eyes shut all the time after the first corner"
