Default Soon to be a new A4 owner

Well its official some of you may have seen some of my other posts in "off topic" asking what I should get. I found a 2000 A4 Quatro 5speed that the current owner just had a complete inspection done on at his local shop. The car is local to my home town and ill be picking it up in May when I return home from Kuwait. It will be a daily driven, family car so im not going to be doing a whole ton of mods to it but any car guy can agree its difficult to leave any vehicle stock for to long. Before I even pick up the car I am wondering what all I should do just for regular maintenance to keep it maintained for a couple years.

The current issues are the clutch is going, not that big of a deal I have the room and tools and know how to get it changed when I get home. There is a vac leak thats sending a code, im not sure what it is but i can get that fixed. With all the research I have been doing on these I have noticed a ton of vacum leaks on others cars and im contemplating changing all the vac lines, but not sure if i should. I know about the water pump and timing belt every 80k so ill be doing that as well. If there is anything else I should know about or be prepared for please let me know. I am still researching on this car but any help would be great.

Thank you, John

congratulations and thank you for your service!

i would say check the typical things, valve cover gasket, any turbo parts (Divertor valve, Boost control valve), suspension, brakes, cooling such as the thermostat sticking but you mentioned timing belt and water pump so you should throw one in, sense you will be in there.

I'm sure some more experience audi peeps will chime in, im still audi noob, not car noob though.

I would just buy enough vacuum hose to do them all at once, and go to town on them, its a cheap and easy peace (piece ?) of mind knowing they are done. Plus being under there you will become more familiar with your car. You've seemed to have everything already majorly in mind for what to look for. Possibly do the rear diff fluid change ? If its a 1.8t, I would go over all of the turbo piping, checking for boost leaks also. Good luck !

So im not new to turbo vehicles by anymeans (as my celica is turbo AWD) but this DV thing has me baffled a little, I havent seen much on it other than the abreviation on here, also the test pipe is that the pipe that comes off the turbo? As for the boost controll valve I have a EBC I was going to install in the Celica but finds fell a little short on that could I use that or is it almost like a MBC?
It is a 1.8T so ill forsure be looking for boost leaks. Does anyone have any good places to get the shop repair manuals from?
