I've seen a pretty good amount of S4's sell for ~$6000. The demand for ten year old biturbo German cars is low. I wouldn't be surprised if that had the original turbos and some things that will require $$$$ to keep it running. There's a running stock 6speed santorin B5 S4 with no current cosmetic damage by me with less than 100k selling (or was selling two weeks ago) for $5500. It's a salvage title but you can see a pretty detailed carfax and everything..

 

Its not really the car and price, its the other stuff he just had to mention he owned...
