Default So, I've see all these posts about running without an MAf...

But when I unplug my MAF it just idles low then dies, then if I take it out and then turn it on th the car does the same thing. If I try to give it gas it immediately dies...that seem weird to me...

We need to know what car you have - year, engine, etc. if its a 99.5+ 1.8T it also has a MAP sensor and can run on that. Earlier cars don't have that and won't run worth anything without the MAF.

wow thats really weird. im pretty sure i dont have a MAP cause im on a NA. mine's 99.0 1.8NA but it works fine without the MAF

Yeah they'll still run but usually kinda shitty - without a valid MAF signal it'll go on preprogrammed maps that don't alter based on load/throttle angle/etc.

The 99.5 1.8t has a map aswell?

I thought so but I'm not positive. It mat be 01+ that has it. One of the 1.8T guys can confirm.

I don't know why my car won't seem to run without one at all, there has to be some other underlying issue here hmm
