Smoked tail lights in 10min
So I've wanted smoked tail lights for a while. I however was not necessarily willing to spray tint them and I'm not incredibly fond of Laminex. So I was talking with a buddy of mine and he told me a guy on SR-20 forums gave his tail lights that "smoked" look with Pantyhose. I laughed and realized he was serious so, skeptical I took out the passenger side tail light and began fighting a black pantyhose over it. I got a tear in the first one and it was not really noticeably darker. I then got a larger darker pair and went at it again. I think the results are fairly impressive. I do think they are a little too dark but being in Miami right now I don't care because I know I wont get harassed by the local men in blue.
So here is a low quality side-by-side camera phone picture we took yesterday (makes them look REALLY dark)
We took some more pictures today that I feel are a little more accurate as to how they look but as I said they are dark, I wouldn't mind picking up a lighter pair of pantyhose and giving it another shot.
...Here is one with the lights and rear fogs on.
We also did a video of me cycling through all the lights. I feel like a big benefit of "smoking" them this way is the light goes through them very well. At night you can't even tell there is something over them IMO.

Let me know what you think... try not to be too hard on me though
Oh I also know that my car is not de-badged.
I'll post some night pictures later.

Are you serious? You do realize that nylon is comprised of plastic so it does not absorb water or anything else... thats the reason for using them. I put water on them and they we're not affected. They are also pretty durable.
