Default slower than a grandma!

WOW! Whats wrong with my 1999.5 A4 1.8T tip Quattro with 150k on it? My car was running just fine until earlier this morning when I decided to go out for a spin. I pulled out of my drive way and step on the gas....felt/seen the motor reving but seems like no power was being transferred to the wheels. For example, getting on to the on ramp of a high way.... the mph is steadily moving higher as i proceeded to get on the ramp and then car just start reving around 6k rpms when going up hill but stays at 20mph and decreasing until i hit the flat surface of the highway...then it pick up speed. Whats wrong with my car? Any suggestions appreciated! thanks!

150 hp = not fast...

are u chipped or anything, need more info. common maintenance like changing the spark plugs, changing/cleaning air filter, oil change, stuff like that will help a lot.

All i have on it is lowering springs and rims...besides that it's completely stock. I changed the engine oil 2 weeks ago and changed the air filter 6 months ago...i haven't changed the spark plugs because it idle just fine. 150hp got me around town just fine but now its seems like it only have 25hp...im dead serious...what can it be???

Any CEL? I don't know much about it since I have no turbo but search for "limp mode". I'm not sure if going into limp mode is as bad as you're making this sound but maybe you at least have a similar problem.

Sounds like it may have been in limp mode. Not sure what caused it but if you were rockin 6k and going that slow, thats what a 1.8 4cyl will give you with low compression.

sounds like you could be having transmission problems. Limp mode is also a possibility, but if your reving out and its barely moving, there could be something else. Best bet is to have it scanned and go from there.

Whats the easiest way to get it out of limp mode or to know its in limp mode? Also, I'll try to change the transmission oil but do i have to change the filter too?

The transmission fluid is not just a simple drain and fill and you should always do the filter. Also with what it sounds like its already too late unless its low on fluid. If it's low fill it up see what happens if its full and slipping that bad new transmission time.
