Default Sloppy Seatbelts

Anybody solve the issue where the seatbelt retracts really really slow, like it's stuck in molasses?

If I don't feed my driver's seatbelt nicely into the pillar, it generally gets stuck in the door. Pretty annoying.

Mine does this too, and it just recently started getting pretty annoying...

It does it on my passenger side almost every time it's used. I've noticed if the car is still running it doesn't do it as much (slight vibration?). I think NickBroderick had the same issue and fixed his by taking it apart and putting it back together.

You'll have to take the pillar off and play with it a bit to get it back to normal. Good luck.

I soaked my drivers seat belt in hot water with powdered laundry detergent for 15 minutes, repeated with fresh water and detergent, soaked in just water, toweled/let it dry. It retracts a lot faster now.

There was a lot of crud in the nylon after 150,000k miles/13 years.
