Default slight oil leak. need a little help.

Okay I switched to synthetic awhile ago and ever since then I would get a very faint oil burning smell. It wasn't bad and I really only noticed it when I pushed the car real hard. I just switched the valve gaskets on both sides and on the drive side it start leaking at the bottom right corner of the valve cover and falling onto the exhaust manifold. I have been thinking that this may have been what I have been smelling the entire time and just never noticed it. Has anyone else seen this happen before? I am tempted to take the valve gasket back off and put some gasket seal on it but I am hesitant.

Any other ideas of where this may be coming from?

I had the same problem, my car was leak free until I replaced both valve cover gaskets. I then found that the front corner of the passenger side cover was seeping. I switched the gasket brand and put some RTV in the corners, leak went away.

Good luck...

You're supposed to use RTV anyway

Opinions seem to differ...I've had better luck with RTV than without...

Some gaskets are supposed to get RTV anyway, and valve cover gaskets are usually included in that.
