Default Ski Rack

Quick question...Im currently looking for an 01' 1.8T quattro and the majority of my driving is going to be on highways up to the mountain. its roughly a 350 mile round trip and i was wondering what the difference in gas milage would be with a ski rack. im sure plenty of people have these racks and may have noticed a difference in fuel economy due the the added wind resistance. it wont sway my decision on getting an A4 (im pretty set on it) but i just want to be aware when i pack 3 other boarders in and need the roof space as opposed to the trunk/folding seats. thanks

well first of all there's a leather ski bag behind the armrest in the rear seats. as far as gas mileage you'll probably get 1 or 2 miles less. you're not gonna see a huge difference though. if you want to get crazy, you could do some fluid dynamics calculations lol

The ski bag in the back isn't big enough for a snowboard to fit thru.

Ths ski rack does decrease the mpgs, but its pretty negligable. The three extra passengers will probably hurt your mpgsmore than the rack will.

the racks usually clamp onto the roof and hold there.

and McGovs. you totally stole my bit about how a board won't fit in the ski bag, my friends powder ski's barely fit in his car to begin with and I don't have a ski bag. I might get a rack this winter as I carry more people to the hills with me.

Ya I get 3 of us and our gear w/o a rack by folding the seat behind me down. I'm too tall for a 4th to sit behind me anyway so I don't see the need for a rack in my case. To the OP sucks that you gotta drive 350mi to go ridin, 65mi from driveway to skiresort FTMFW!
