Silly Question From New Member.
Hi Everyone,
Muffman here,
I,ve recently bought a 97 B5 A4, I was changing out the radio when i found that some genius in his wisdom had removed the permanent live from the loom and inserted a cable in its place from the harness to the relay board and joined it to the terminal for the switched live cable. So effectively the permanent live and switched live are comig from the same source. I don't know why anyone would do this, but my problem is this, the cd/radio wont hold settings or station presets. Without the original cable in the loom I don't know where the permanent live is feed from. I've been unable to source a wiring diagram and any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

It won't hold presets because with the key off, there is no power source to maintain memory. Take the constant 12v wire off of the switched source. Remove the lower dash panel under the steering column. You'll see four posts with wires. Three have red wires (these are constant power), and one has a yellow wire (that one is switched). Connect the constant power terminal/wire to one of the red-wired power posts with an inline fuse of the same rating as the OEM radio fuse, and you should be set.
