Default Side Impact Airbag fault

I have an Intermittent side impact airbag fault. Connecting VAGCOM I get the following;

01218 - Side Airbag Igniter: Passenger Side (N200)
32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent

I then cleared the fault and set VAGCOM recording on the airbag system, (can't remember what block it was now) and I could see that the signal is going high then normal again and so on. Now I left the car alone idling, no one was touching it and about 20min later the light came on again.

Is this fault likely to be in the igniter/airbag itself or the circuit? Even if only the ignition is left on, I will still get the fault. It does not seem likely that the circuit is at fault here, where there is no interaction with anything or anybody.

Any ideas? I have a 1.8 petrol, 98.5MY, 7-bag system

there is a connecter under the passengers seat that is sometimes loose. put a ziptie around it and see if the code comes back.

As much as I thought it was a more complicated a fix, using the cable tie around the connector seems to have fixed the problem so far. I'm now getting a constant signal rather than the erratic one before.

thanks.
