i wanna see what people are doing with there grilles im tires of having to repaint mine black all the time

Actually worked out pretty well because I was looking for a cheap RS4 grille to take the chrome trim off of.

I got that one on eBay about a year ago. This looks like the same one as mine, but way more expensive for whatever reason. If you look very closely you can see that the pattern in the mesh is slightly different than an OEM RS4 piece, but you can only notice if you know what you're looking for

I painted my grille surround black after prepping the chrome and it's still chipping after 4 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. I bought Plasti-Pip and hope that I'll only have to re-paint it one more time.

Why not try the Plasti-Dip.....or do you not wish to go through the hassle again?

 

seeing how i spent $20 on spray paint on the grille already it is even worth it to try again?

 

The Plasti-Dip I'm told hold up better to chipping and general wear and tear, as long as the chrome has been properly prepped. I've even read that others have had success just spraying Plasti-Dip directly to the chrome and not having chipping issues either.

The overall cost should dictate if it's worth the 30 minutes it takes to remove the grille and surround and re-paint it......no?

I just see it as a better alternative to spending more money and waiting for shipping......but that's just me. I also feel like A4 owners who don't throw an RS4 or S4 grille on their ride are becoming more and more extinct....I like my grille and the fact that I put time and effort into it, even though I must touch it up pretty soon.

But I understand your point of view.....
